Antonio Asnicar, known in family tradition as 'il più anziano' (the elder), is the earliest documented ancestor of the mosca branch of the Asnicar family of Recoaro Terme.
Historical Context
The 'mosca' nickname (literally 'fly') was a soprannome — a hereditary household nickname used in Veneto villages to distinguish branches of large families that shared the same surname. The Asnicar mosca line is one of several branches descending from the medieval founding house of the same name.
