Biography
Carlo Asnicar, the youngest son of Giovanni and Maria, left Asiago after the Second World War to study in Padua. He returned to the region as a primary school teacher and devoted his retirement to recording the dialect and oral history of the Sette Comuni.
Historical Context
Carlo's generation witnessed the rural exodus that emptied many alpine villages in the 1950s and 1960s. His writings on the Cimbrian dialect contributed to a wider regional movement to preserve the linguistic heritage of the Veneto Prealps.
